Welcome to Kirkintilloch Mountaineering and Walking Club. The Club is affiliated to the Mountaineering Council of Scotland and benefits from its activities and publications. Every member receives the MCofS quarterly journal, ‘The Scottish Mountaineer’.
The Club programme includes weekend excursions staying in club huts, bunkhouses or hostels about six times per year. The programme also includes day outings which are spread geographically. These inlcude low level, easier walks every Wednesday and more strenous high level walks every second Sunday which are normally within a two-hour drive of Kirkintilloch. Mountain walking is a potentially dangerous activity and participants should always be well equipped. Walking in the Scottish Mountains can be physically tiring and the weather is a major factor.
Walks can oftern involve a long distance and take in thousands of feet of ascent and descent. If new to hillwalking, we would not recommend the more arduous mountain walks. A good level of stamina and fitness is needed if you expect to enjoy serious hillwalking and regular walkers develop mountain fitness.
The Club always welcomes new members. If you are interested in joining the Club or want more information please get in touch (click here).
